Not the Cleavers nor the Munsters, but somewhere inbetween...

I thought I would introduce myself as well as my WILD family....I say wild because they consist mostly of animals! I'm pretty much a bleeding heart when it comes to animals...and if I had my way I would try and rescue as many homeless animals as I could! I only have a 1,472 sq ft house and a medium to smaller sized backyard. With this size of house, I know I am pretty much maxed out with two dogs (one dog happens to be gigantic) and two cats. At the moment my husband and I are outnumbered and sometimes it feels like a zoo around here. I can't really complain though, I love them all to bits!

These are our two cats, Sasuke (on the left) and Kato. I have had Kato since I was 14 years old!! This makes him VERY old in cat years! I once had a cat who lived to be 17 and so I'm hoping Kato has many more years ahead of him! He's been my bud for a long time now! He is a cuddly lap cat and a compulsive groomer! Sasuke (named by my husband after a Japanese comic character) is almost 5 years old. We rescued him a few months after we got married. He is a CRAZY cat! He fetches and likes to respond when you call his name! His favorite toys are straws which he steals from my drinks!

This is Toto. He's our first dog. He just turned 2 years old! His breed is half Scottish Terrier, half Westie. He is a little rascal and has more energy than you could ever imagine. He tires me out just watching him zip around the house sometimes. For Halloween we dressed him up as a mailman. He was NOT impressed.

This is Calypso. She just turned 1! She is our newest addition and since this photo was taken last October, you can imagine how big she is now (she was 4 months old here)! Her breed is 3/4 English Mastiff and 1/4 Rottweiler. I was a little worried about getting such a large breed, already having 3 smaller animals, but she is truly a gentle giant. I'm pretty sure she thinks she's a small dog because she bounds around the house after Toto and tries to jump all over the couch just like him too.

This is me and my husband, Nathaniel. We just celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary on July 11th. This picture was taken two weeks ago when we were in Mexico (excuse my burn) celebrating our anniversary. We met and were married in Victoria (where we both grew up). Two years after we married, Nathaniel joined the army. There are no army bases near our home town so we had to move to Edmonton (a 15 hour drive from Victoria).

A little about me: I am a full time student but I only have one more semester left of my Bachelor of Science degree at university and I work in the evenings and some weekends...I'm taking the summer off from school so I can spend some quality time with Nathaniel. In just over 1 month Nathaniel will be leaving to serve in Afghanistan with the Canadian Military. He is an Infantry soldier and this will be his first tour. He will be gone for nearly 8 months, maybe longer. I am going to miss him oh so much.
I am really hoping having a blog and decorating our house will keep me busy and keep my mind from worrying too much. I'm actually pretty scared but I don't tell him this. I know he knows I'm worried but I don't think he knows HOW worried I really am. As my best friend, I usually tell him everything, but I can't have him stressing about me while he's over there. I need him to focus on his job and come back home safe!

You have all of us in Decor pad and the blogging world if you need support. I live in San Diego and I am near Camp Pendleton. A lot of the women here are military wives and They have a great support group out here. I can't imagine the stress and worry but I am so proud of the men and women that serve for their country.
